Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, October 07, 2008. The most active weather system will be a low pressure system that will track northeastward through the East China Sea and up the east coast of Japan. This system will carry substantial moisture that will produce moderate precipitation through much of southern Japan. By the end of the day, precipitation will creep towards Tokyo. Because the storm will have initiated fairly far to the south, it will not carry significant cold air with it.
The cold air will remain in a large trough of low pressure that will sweep through northern China and southern Russia. Scattered areas of rain are also possible along the Korean Peninsula.
The rest of eastern Asia will remain mostly dry aside from the normal areas of showers and thunderstorms in the tropics.
Tokyo will rise into the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C), while Shanghai will see temperatures in the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C). Seoul will rise into the mid-60s(F)/upper 10s(C).
For Australia, a frontal system will move away from the east coast of the country and into the Tasman Sea. This will leave dry conditions, except for the Bass Strait area that may see some scattered showers.
A large high pressure system will build into the rest of the country, providing dry conditions. Relatively cold air will remain entrenched over the southern third of the country.
Sydney will rise into the upper 60s(F)/lower 20s(C), while Melbourne will see temperatures in the lower 60s(F)/upper 10s(C). Brisbane will rise into the lower 80s(F)/upper 20s(C).
